Activities

Overview

ISWE fulfills its mission in accordance to its charter within several areas of Web Engineering. Each area is called an ISWE Activity. ISWE currently conducts the following ISWE Activities:

  • Events
  • MDWEnet
  • Usability and Accessibility (To be announced soon)

Organisation of Activities

ISWE starts an Activity based on interest of their members. ISWE members can state interest by addressing the ISWE Executive Committee in written form. Prior to submitting an Activity Proposal, momentum for that specific Activity should have been established through discussions among a fair number of members. The Executive Committee decides on the acceptance of the Activity proposal. A letter of complaint can be filed against a rejecting decision within a month after delivery, which is decided upon on the next statutory ISWE Meeting of the Members.

The Activitiy proposal must indicate the organization and scope of the proposed activity. This includes the name of the Activity, the description about the nature of the conducted work, and the mission describing the contribution within the field of Web Engineering.

Each activity must be lead by an ISWE member, who is optionally supported by a vice-lead. Activity Members are either members of ISWE or invited guests (Person or Organization). Invitations are handled by the Activity lead.

Activities are conducted on a fixed time basis (usually two years). Activities can be extended in justified cases by submitting an Activity Extension Proposal.

The Activity must hold face-to-face meetings at least once a year. Such a meeting is called Activity Meeting. In addition to Activity Meetings, Activities must report once a year on the statutory ISWE Meeting of the Members about their current status.
